Kenyatta “Ken” Colvin Sr. is the Executive & Program Director of Community Dad. Ken founded Community Dad in 2011, when he saw a need for more accessible paternal and child resources within the community. Ken has created an organization and programs centered around the needs of men and their children. He used his childhood experience being raised in a single parent household as the catalyst for change.
He wanted to emphasize the importance of being a present father in the lives of your children. Ken has sought out to strategically address gaps in the stages of growth and development leading to fatherhood. As a result he created the conceptual and logical models and design for boyhood, manhood, fatherhood. Thus, Community Dad and it's derivatives; create a whole man initiative.
A true visionary with a heart for family and community. In 1996, Ken graduated and received his associates degree from Mississippi Delta Community College formerly known as CAPPS and began his advocacy and philanthropy journey. No matter the industry he has worked or served, he has always found a way to encourage and empower others. This can be noted from his time spent as a Specialist with Neighborhood Medical working in outreach as well as with Big Bend Cares where he offered insight as an HIV/AIDS Educator. Not to mention his tenure as Supervisor with the Kearny Center where he guided staff and over 300 displaced participants. He has served as a leader of his community for over 20 years. Most currently being Pastor of F2W Ministries and Coordinator for Florida Healthy Start’ T.E.A.M Dad.
Ken pegs one of his greatest accomplishments to marrying his biggest supporter and loyalist friend, his beautiful wife Niecey. They have been married for over 25 years and have raised a beautiful family together. Ken is the proud father of three children; Lania, Samari, and his oldest son being his namesake, KJ.
